2022.01.17 07:53 FanuBreaks I've tried several sample isolation services and I think I've finally set on what's the best one…have a listen
If this video is too off-topic, sorry for that. However, the topic should appeal to all those who are into making sample-based music such as hip hop, mashups etc.
I've been trying out several of the current sample extraction/isolation services that let you rip elements of a song (bass, vocal, drums, etc). I love buying old soul and funk records and getting basslines, drums, etc using these methods.
There's even a video of me using RipX, and I've found it to be better than RX. However, I feel there's now an even better tool: recently I stumbled into a lesser-known service, Lalal.ai, and has been blowing me away with its quality.
Don't take my word for it: video will let you see and hear more. This is the one I'll be using from now on to isolate elements.

2022.01.17 07:53 WeirdBryceGuy I was once assaulted by a gym rat while leaving the gym.
I’ll never forget the time that I saw him. It was a Thursday night, I remember that because my legs days, for whatever reason, always seem to happen on a Thursday. And on that particular Thursday I was forced to, against my aching muscles, run for quite some time—in the dark, all the way home.
I was walking out of the gym, bracing myself for the three-mile trek home on wobbly legs, when I happened to pass by a rather small white car in the back of the parking lot, whose sole occupant was in the process of consuming a rotisserie chicken with his bare hands. It wasn’t the first time I’d seen someone eating in their car before or after a gym session, but this particular instance was uniquely interesting. The man inside the car was huge, an absolutely gargantuan specimen of muscle and bulk. It looked as if the car had been built around him; as if he’d never actually left the thing, but merely walked around encased in it.
There was a towel draped over the steering wheel, streaked with fresh stains. His shirt, a plain gray stringer, was similarly stained. The plastic container—holding the ravaged carcass of the chicken—sat in his lap. He was hunched over it, picking away at the flesh, chewing mindlessly. As I stood there watching him, creepily absorbed in his almost primal feeding, I realized that for him, there was no world beyond that chicken. He was completely immersed in the act of eating; his eyes weren’t even really focused on the thing, but staring slightly above it, as if there was something mildly interesting about the stained towel. His hands picked and plucked and ripped away at the poultry with autonomous efficiency.
No one else passed by during those captivating few moments. It was almost closing time, and I’d been one of the last few inside the gym—aside from the staff. When the hulking man finished, he let out a sort of guttural, disgustingly wet grunt. Not exactly a burp, but nothing comprehensible. And, from outside of the car, a few feet away, i smelled it. The scent—the stench—of meat, and whatever else he’d had. It was gross, sure, but I won’t deny that, amidst the oral funk, there were...appetizing olfactory hints. Notes of subtle though unidentifiable savoriness. Lemon pepper chicken, and something else.
I hadn’t hidden myself at any point in my observation of the man’s gluttony, and so when he looked up from his meal, the feasting glaze gone from his eyes, he saw me; standing pretty much right by his car. Our eyes met, and he smiled—and I saw little pieces of food—some chicken, some not—in his teeth. I waved, awkwardly and shamefully, and turned to walk away.
But before I could even walk the distance of a parking space, I heard his door open and him call out to me. He said, in a slimily sort of way, “Hey, come here for a second.”
Ordinarily, at any other place, I would’ve kept on walking. The supermarket, the mall, Target, wherever, I would’ve ignored the invitation to the stranger’s car—especially at night. But I thought to myself, “It’s the gym, people are always nice here. And you were just watching him eat. You at least owe him an explanation.”
So, against my better judgement, I turned around and walked back.
He watched me casually from within his car, the door closed but the window now rolled down. The combined smell of the chicken and the other, unnamable thing wafted out and seemed to surround me; it was almost nauseating in its potency. When I’d come close enough to smell his more rancid breath among the overall scent, I stopped, and without being prompted, started to apologize for having watched him devour his post-workout meal. To my surprise, he laughed, and waved it away. I smiled, thanked him, and was about to turn and walk away—more so to escape the over-powering chicken fumes, than him—when, in a dizzying flash of movement, he threw open his car door, leapt out, and seized me by the wrist. In the shock of the moment, I released my gym bag and watched as it flew several feet away.
In the suddenness of his movement, something in his car fell out onto the lot. I heard it clatter to the ground and roll toward me. But before I could catch a glimpse of it, the man yanked me sideways so that I went spinning—and, eventually, falling—into another car. My head hit the hood, and then I crumpled to the ground, pained and dazed. The man’s heavy footsteps and unsettlingly bestial breathing cleared my disorientation right up; and looking toward him, I saw the most wickedly hungry grin I’d ever seen. His eyes, which before had been dark brown and inviting, were now alight with a perceptible fire; reddened by the sheer malignity of his unspoken but obvious intentions.
I tried to scamper away, but the two-ton vehicle at my back prevented that. Knowing that I wouldn’t be able to get up and get around the car before the man was upon me, I instead tried to crawl under it. Ducking my head low, I managed to push myself a few inches beneath it before my feet were seized by two powerful hands, and I was roughly dragged back out.
Now standing over me, his powerful legs flanking my body, the man looked like some great demon champion, with his rippling muscles, infernal smile, and crimson blazing eyes. The image was so horrifying, so awfully unreal and mentally insupportable—given the environment—that I was forced for the sake of my sanity to look away, to look down. And then I saw something even more terrible, something which, in the sheer grisliness of the sight, drove me to lash out with my foot and strike the man in his fortuitously exposed groin.
Despite his titanic stature and evil empowerment, he was helpless against that most critical attack, and fell to the ground beside me. I can only thank God that the man did not fall right onto me; I would’ve surely been crushed beneath his ultra-hypertrophic figure. Wasting no time, not wanting to be the next source of his macros, I got up, snatched up my bag, and ran off into the night.
I made it home in record time, driven along tirelessly by terror and the age-old animal desire to avoid a savage predator. When I got home, I collapsed onto my floor and passed out. I slept for almost twelve hours. When I woke up, I called the gym and reported what had happened, grimly expecting to be told that the man had ensnared—and possibly consumed—someone else. But they only thanked me for the tip, and I could tell from the tone of the receptionist’s voice that she didn’t believe me. I thought about calling the police, but suspected that I’d be receive a similarly incredulous response, so I didn’t.
Still, I know what happened, I can remember with perfectly clarity that man’s bear-like stature, his infinitely evil eyes, the sheer rancid foulness of his breath, like some devil’s abattoir of butchered man-flesh... And most of all, I can picture with dreadful, despair-inducing clarity the thing I’d spotted on the ground during my near-death experience; the thing that had rolled from his almost comically small car.
The freshly picked skull of a human being.

2022.01.17 07:53 Ryan_Hill Had an idea for an archetype, but not sure how to make it work
I really like Ritual cards because the mental image of establishing a powerful magic spell to summon aid to your side just appeals to the fantasy lover in me. But I know that they are very difficult to make work because of the card economy of them. So I wanted to make a ritual archetype that could utilize cards in the graveyard for their ritual summon to mitigate this and where using those monsters gave the summoned monster effects. The more you invested in the monster you used the more powerful the effect
I play a lot of Duel Links and I watch people play the TCG on youtube, but I have never really played properly, so it's hard to know how to balance things. In my head you can banish monsters from 3 locations. Banishing from the grave requires a little bit of set up, but no loss of card advantage, so would bequeath a minor effect. Banishing from the hand makes summoning the monster at least a -2 in card advantage, so gets a more moderate effect. Banishing from the field means you've already banished cards to get it there and you've gone through one copy of the ritual spell already. So would need a borderline broken ability to justify it. But that's the part that I'm unsure of. Don't want to make them either not nearly strong enough to be worth it or so stupidly broken that no one would ever commit to it. So please feel free to help. Here's what I've got so far:
Amorfamous Combination Ritual
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Amorfamous" Ritual Monster. You must banish monsters from your hand or field or graveyard whose total Levels equal either the Level of the Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon or precisely twice the level of the Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon. If this card is in your graveyard, you can banish one "Amorfamous" card from the graveyard to add this card to your hand. You can discard this card from your hand to add one "Amorfamous" ritual monster from your deck to your hand. You can only activate this affect of "Amorfamous Combination Ritual" once per turn
You can discard this card from your hand to add one "Amorfamous Combination Ritual" from your deck or Graveyard to your hand. If this card is banished for the ritual summon of an "Amorfamous" ritual monster, that monster gains an effect depending on where this card was banished from - GY: Once per turn (Quick Effect), you may send the top 2 cards of your deck to the grave
- Hand: Once per turn (Quick Effect), you may send the top 3 cards of your deck to the grave
- Field: Once per turn (Quick Effect), you may send the top 5 cards of your deck to the grave
The purpose of this card/effect is mostly to set up the graveyard to facilitate further plays
You can discard this card from your hand to add one "Amorfamous Combination Ritual" from your deck or Graveyard to your hand. If this card is banished for the ritual summon of an "Amorfamous" ritual monster, that monster gains an effect depending on where this card was banished from - GY: Increase the original attack of this monster by 500
- Hand: Increase the original attack of this monster by 1000
- Field: Increase the original attack of this monster by 2000
None of these monsters are particularly large on their own, but this one should be able to make any of them potentially high enough that they at least don't just get run over in battle
You can discard this card from your hand to add one "Amorfamous Combination Ritual" from your deck or Graveyard to your hand. If this card is banished for the ritual summon of an "Amorfamous" ritual monster, that monster gains an effect depending on where this card was banished from - GY: Once per turn, you can target one monster your opponent controls: Destroy it
- Hand: Once per turn, you can target one Face up card your opponent
- Field: Once per turn (Quick effect), you can shuffle one card your opponent controls into their deck
This is purely removal getting more and more powerful as you commit more resources to the summon
You can discard this card from your hand to add one "Amorfamous Combination Ritual" from your deck or Graveyard to your hand. If this card is banished for the ritual summon of an "Amorfamous" ritual monster, that monster gains an effect depending on where this card was banished from - GY: This card cannot be destroyed by battle
- Hand: This card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effect
- Field: This card is unaffected by your opponent's card effects
This is to give your potential boss monster some protection
You can discard this card from your hand to add one "Amorfamous Combination Ritual" from your deck or Graveyard to your hand. If this card is banished for the ritual summon of an "Amorfamous" ritual monster, that monster gains an effect depending on where this card was banished from - GY: Once per turn, you can excavate the top two cards of your deck. Place one on the top of your deck and the other on the bottom of your deck
- Hand: Once per turn, you can excavate the top two cards of your deck. Place up to 1 on the top of your deck, up to one on the bottom of your deck and up to 1 in your graveyard
- Field: Once per turn, you can excavate the top three cards of your deck. Place up to 1 on the top of your deck, up to one on the bottom of your deck, up to 1 in your graveyard and up to 1 in your hand
This is in order to recuperate your lost advantage from summoning it. But the only way to actually get a plus off of the effect is to have banished it from the field. The first one is technically beneficial, but basically just makes it less likely that you'll draw a garnet and can maybe get you one card closer to an out if it was second place on your deck and you put it on top. But it's not really the way you're meant to use it. The Hand effect can help you to set up the grave a little, but is pretty similar. And then the field effect is a +1 that potentially also lets you put something useful in the GY
You can discard this card from your hand to add one "Amorfamous Combination Ritual" from your deck or Graveyard to your hand. If this card is banished for the ritual summon of an "Amorfamous" ritual monster, that monster gains an effect depending on where this card was banished from - GY: Once per turn (Quick Effect), when your opponent activates a spell or trap effect, you can discard 1 card: If you do, negate that effect and destroy that card
- Hand: Once per turn (Quick Effect), when your opponent activates a spell or trap effect, or special summons a monster, you can discard 1 card: If you do, negate that effect or summon and destroy that card
- Field: Once per turn (Quick effect)When a monster(s) would be Summoned, OR a Spell/Trap Card is activated: Discard one card; negate the Summon or activation, and if you do, destroy that card.
And here is how you set up your negates. That last one may be too strong as it's literally Solemn Judgement with a discard effect, rather than a Life Point Cost. I don't know how to do the problem solving text for this one, as the intent is for these ones to be a hard once per turn, but I don't know how to word it as the original name of the monster actually using the negate, presumably won't be **Amorfamous Zero** unless you banish it from the field in order to summon another version of it
A lot of the effects seem too powerful, but the card advantage needed to get any of the really broken effects is still so bad that I don't think they would see any play. But I can't bring myself to make them any more powerful.
I chose Light Spellcasters mostly because of the aforementioned mental image of setting up the ritual to summon an ally to protect the realm. I don't know enough about the game to know if any of the ight or spellcaster support would be particularly relevant. The only generic support they would qualify that I can think of is Honest. Which obviously is great. But if you want to raise your Attack, there's already an in archetype way to do it. (I also considered water spellcasters and having them essentially be slimes that form their larger boss monsters by having them literally merge)
I know it would need more support to be a full archetype, but I don't know what it needs. Maybe an in archetype draw and or mill spell. An extra deck monster that can add cards from the GY to hand to get better effects perhaps. Maybe even cheat them onto the field, but again, I don't want them to be broken and that would make it easy to create the broken effects. In an ideal world I would want this to be a good tier 2 or *maybe* a bad tier 1 deck.
What do you think of the concept at least?

2022.01.17 07:53 Bananabean5 Am I being fat shamed or am I just being overly sensitive?
For the past 5 years or so I've really struggled with my weight and exercising regularly due to my demanding work schedule. Unfortunately, I was at my heaviest when I got pregnant. I'm 5 foot 7 and was 162 pounds before getting pregnant. At seven months pregnant I'm currently 166 pounds. I actually lost quite a bit of weight in the beginning of my pregnancy from morning sickness, but quickly gained it back.
Well, there just so happens to be another pregnant person at my work who is due a month after me and not once, but twice now, there's been comments made about my weight in comparison to hers. "Wow, I can't believe you two are only a month apart! She barely looks pregnant. Well, it must just be because she's skinny!". Oof. The first time it happened I just figured the person making the comment was just being awkward. The second time it happened a completely different person made a very similar comment, it got me feeling very hurt.
I feel like a total whale now. Has anyone else had this experience?

2022.01.17 07:53 Front-Property-2223 How can you legally drive a manual without holding a license for one?
Is this an American thing? Because I was reading through a lot of the threads and I don’t understand how you can take a manual car out into traffic without knowing how to control it confidently. When I got my license they would instantly fail you for using the wrong gear or failing to understand when to switch up and down or not knowing how to do basics like reverse and reverse parking. Even when I got my license and went out on my own in Madrid I was terrified. If you do your test in an Automatic in Ireland, Spain and I suppose the rest of Europe then all you can drive is an automatic. I’m not saying it makes for better drivers but at least you know that the people around you have the knowledge to control their cars.

Something like 6 months ago when all the hype was about Matic and liquidity farming I almost got started, made a metamask and everything - and then I saw how big the gas fees would be and I decided it wouldn't be profitable enough. But I just finally started turning my artwork into NFTs and had to fund my metamask to do it. So now I have ETH on there - what have I been missing out on? I've done 0 defi stuff, is it still profitable with the current market? What should I try? Ideally without a bunch more ridiculous gas fees haha.
