2022.01.23 05:55 throwaway81530x91600 Can I steam my purple cabbage with vinegar instead of water to keep it from going a disgusting shade of dark blue?

I like to heavily steam my cabbage before frying it in oil, but tonight I tried it with a purple cabbage and although it tasted fine, it was this extremely dark blue/purple off-putting color.

2022.01.23 05:55 jessiemonkie The Morals Of Clarke vs. Luna

When we first met Luna she tried to teach Clarke a few lessons based on her view of morality while Clarke acted on her own beliefs of what was moral.
Luna believed: - “How many lives would be lost to pay for those I would save?” - “The path of violence is a choice.” & - “You believe to defeat an enemy that will stop at nothing, you must stop at nothing. How’s that different than blood must have blood?”
While Clarke believed: - “Some causes are worth killing for.” & - “When the choice is fight or die, there is no choice”.
When it came to Luna’s side, Clarke asked her to take the flame, become Heda, & shut down ALIE but she told her that how she chose to lead would be her choice. She didn’t have to use violence & she could continue blood must not have blood. However Luna knew that she would have to make hard choices if she became Heda, which would cost innocent lives, like how she was forced to kill her own bother at her conclave. Yet Luna didn't want to take lives to save them. She didn't want to kill to take down her enemies that wouldn't back down because in her eyes all violence was blood must have blood & so she couldn't aid Clarke since that would mean she chose violence.
Then there was Clarke’s side. Clarke knew ALIE was ruthless & wouldn’t back down without force; ALIE would continue to torture innocents, steal their memories & distort them into unrecognizable versions of themselves until the entire human race had fallen in line behind her. In Clarke’s eyes it was more moral to take brutal action if necessary & make the hard choices because at least it could lead to ALIEs defeat & the restoration of peace. If Luna wouldn’t take the flame, ALIEs followers wouldn't back down, & ALIE couldn't be reasoned with then what else could she do? If she didn't make the hard choices the human race would also still be tortured & killed. People would’ve just died due to Clarkes inaction. Yet that inaction wouldn’t have defeated ALIE & everyone ALIE tortured & killed would’ve been hurt in vain. When it came to those brutal hard choices, while Luna would view them all as blood must have blood Clarke viewed it as self defense & thought sometimes there was no choice but to kill.
I feel like if I existed in the world of The 100 I would act more like Luna but as a fan I was more on Clarke’s side. If ALIE wasn’t shut down then the entire human race would be at stake. Now while it’s true that Luna would have to kill if she took on ALIE & returned to Polis to become Heda, she never thought about how her inaction would cost lives too. If she took the flame when Clarke first offered it then she could've shut ALIE down before she was forced to kill Derek & the other members of Floukru, before Indra & tons of other Grounders were crucified, before Illian killed his family, before Kane shot Roan, before ALIEs followers climbed the Polis tower & fell to their deaths as the City of Light was shut down. Luna suffered due to ALIE & she could’ve saved humanity from the same fate but she refused to make the hard choice. She allowed others to suffer so she didn’t have to abandon her morals & burden herself. Luna was also naive since there was a chance our characters would fail to defeat ALIE without her & then ALIE would just come back to torture & kill Floukru again to force them to fall in line. Plus in the end as Luna was faced with an enemy that wouldn’t back down, she chose the path of violence as she killed her own clan members to save Adria from ALIE when she could’ve taken the key instead.
Luna also continued with this mindset in s4 as she risked innocent lives with her inaction. It was understandable that she didn’t want her blood to kill anyone else in the nightblood tests but without her blood, our characters wouldn’t be able to make nightblood, which would've cost even more innocent lives, & still could’ve killed all the characters at Beccas lab. Yet with the formula to mass produce nightblood, dozens if not hundreds more Grounders & members of Skaikru could’ve survived Praimfaya. That means that Clarke wouldn’t have had to survive in isolation & maybe there could’ve been enough nightbloods outside the bunker to help her remove the rubble so Wonkru & Octavia wouldn’t have had to suffer either.
All that being said, I think both Clarke & Luna were flawed. Luna shouldn’t have had to save humanity & become Heda. She shouldn’t have had to abandon her morals. Yet she was the solution that could’ve avoided so much suffering & she refused to come to humanity's defense & that inaction cost lives & suffering too. With Clarke it’s understandable that she wanted to defeat ALIE & wouldn't let her continue to wreck havoc on the human race. It was awesome that she could make the hard choices, which were at times necessary. However Clarke could also take it a bit too far & even veered into ALIE territory as she tried to force the flame on Luna.
Clarkes direct actions could hurt the human race but Lunas inaction hurt them too. I think the answer was that both of them needed to compromise. Clarke wanted a fix all solution to the ALIE issue & the war between Skaikru & the Grounders & she believed Luna was that solution. Luna on the other hand cared about non-violence but she didn't want to become Heda. What I think Clarke should’ve done once she realized Luna didn't want to become Heda was ask Luna to take the flame for 5 minutes, have Luna tell her the kill code, & then let Luna remove the flame. This would’ve been the best solution for both of them. It would’ve allowed them to defeat ALIE & save the human race without violence but it also would’ve allowed Luna to be free of the burden of the flame. Of course it wouldn’t have solved the commander issue or the war between Skaikru & the Grounders but it would’ve shown Luna respect & that would’ve made her a better ally in the future.
When it comes to the morals of Clarke & Luna who’s side were you on?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad E15 Gen 2 laptop. I didn't charge it this night. In the morning I opened it and there it started. It started beeping nonstop and the monitor isn't showing anything. I tried many key combinations and nothing is helping, it just keeps beeping at full volume and its unbearable. I can't turn it off. Is there any way of fixing it? I contacted support and they will send a guy in about two days. Please help me fix this issue or at least turn the volume down or shut down the computer.

2022.01.23 05:55 ShittyCatDicks How do you guys decide when to speed up the practice tempo for a difficult song?

It's pretty common advice here (and music in general) that when you're trying to get a difficult section down, you should play it slowly with a metronome and speed up gradually. I'm curious as to how you guys decide when to speed that metronome up when you feel like you have a section down.
I've always been a "pen on paper goal" kind of guy so I try to incorporate some quantifiable way to know when I should speed up a tempo. Of course, "speed it up when you can nail it at the perfectly at the current tempo" is always good advice, but too general for me and I often am left with a feeling that I've cheated myself, accidentally or not, by speeding up too quickly.
I'm currently learning a very difficult song. I've tried methods where I must play a section perfectly 8/10 times to "pass" a single set, and then "pass" 8/10 sets in order to advance 5% tempo, but that was too grind-y for me. I'm currently trying another method where if I can play a section perfectly 5 times in a row, I speed up by 3-5 BPM. It's working okay but still get the feeling that I get "lucky" sometimes and accidentally cheat myself.
How do you guys decide when to speed up practice tempo?

2022.01.23 05:55 Dirtsoil It frustrates me to no end seeing everyone up in arms about captive orcas when the exact same shit is happening in the animal agriculture industry.

But they don't care because the sensory pleasure of eating meat is somehow more justifiable to them than the sensory pleasure of watching a show at SeaWorld.
They flat out describe it as animal abuse, call the trainers pieces of shit, cheer on the whales when they kill their trainers, while chewing down on animal flesh themselves. Reeks of cognitive dissonance. The fact that they think you can pick and choose which lives to care for makes me so mad.
And if you bring up the fact that farmed animals go through the exact same thing, they tell you to shut up, call you preachy. No buddy, I was just making the exact same points you were about!! C'mon.
