Obtaining 3rd Class Medical While on Lexapro

2021.12.07 16:05 MentionTurbulent6839 Obtaining 3rd Class Medical While on Lexapro

Hello everyone,
Getting straight to the point, lately I have been extremely discouraged about ever being able to obtain a medical certificate and to continue my flying lessons after hearing about all of the roadblocks set in place to ensure that people like me never touch the controls of an aircraft.
As the title suggests, I am currently on Lexapro and am taking it for depression and supposedly generalized anxiety/OCD. Perhaps at one point earlier in my life I suffered a bit from anxiety and OCD but I can assure you that now, I am probably more calm and collected than most "normal" folks out there. I am never one to "freeze up" or "freak out" during stressful situations and actively seek adventure and excitement.
In regards to my depression however, currently I am quite depressed seeing as how my life long dream and passion about becoming a pilot is likely going to be shattered before my very eyes. I do realize that while Lexapro is no longer "banned" by the FAA, it is still very difficult to obtain any medical while on it. Realizing this last year, I asked my physiatrist if I could start to come off of the stuff. Over the course of around 9 months I went from 40mg down to 0 without any problems what so ever until a couple of weeks after I was off it completely. It was during this time I experienced some fairly bizarre symptoms and had to get back on 15mg of the medicine to alleviate them. I will not go into detail about what symptoms I experienced but they were not related to my supposed anxiety diagnosis or depression. Also after seeing my primary care provider, he determined that my symptoms were neither physically nor neurologically related. As a result of this though, I am not sure if I will ever be able to get off this damn medication and worse yet, the episode I experienced will probably now be on my medical record and may automatically disqualify me.
At this point, is there any hope for me or am I simply just another nutcase to the FAA who should have no business flying whatsoever?
As a side note, if there is even a chance for me to obtain my medical, I will go to the moon and back to ensure that it happens. That is how much this dream means to me.
Thanks.

2021.12.07 16:05 SueMe8 Active duty USMC to WOFT

Greetings everyone!
I’ve been lurking a lot here in this sub and the army aviation sub.
A little bit about myself: I’ve been in the Corps now for a little bit over 10 years and my contract is set to EAS at my 14 year mark. Im enlisted, married and no kids just yet.
I think I’ve done everything I wanted to do in the USMC, and would like to look into this program, however, seeing other threads about being a WO, it sounds to me that some units will snatch up a WO to do commissioned officer stuff, such as being a commander in one unit, or just doing random taskers better suited for commissioned officers. Not really focused on flying, but this also seems like this happens a lot on active duty.
I’m curious if I’m able to do a couple years active and then switch to national guard? I’m aware of the 10 year service obligation.
And to any actual active duty pilots… do you enjoy this job? I suppose to each their own, but was curious on the general consensus of the MOS from the active duty side.
I unfortunately don’t personally know anyone in real life who is an army pilot as I’m not cool enough lol

2021.12.07 16:05 Corathecow Can anyone help me with understanding the stores raise policy and why I feel lied to now?

Basically, when I was hired by one of our managers I was told word for word I would get a raise at 6 months. My whole entire plan has been to leave at 6 months if I didn’t get a good raise. I didn’t get this in writing. No one else was in the meetings. But recently I had some issues and had a long convo with a manager. One issue was I wanted to know exactly when my raise would be as I was getting very very close to my 6 month mark. I think I’ve already hit that now. They told me to ask a different manager because they didn’t know much about how pay was handled
I asked another manager in front of the one who hired me. I stated that I was told when hired I would get a raise at 6 months and wanted more info on that and wanted info on how they were going to handle increasing pay with the starting pay going up. I make 11 an hour and starting pay is about to get bumped up to 11 an hour. So they told me when others are getting bumped up to 11 my pay will not change and I will not even be ELIGIBLE for a raise until I hit one year.
All of this has rubbed me the wrong way. I was told I would get a raise at 6 months and now that 6 months is here I’m being told one year. I tried to go through all my paperwork from when I was hired (I know I am a great worker and try my best so I keep all contracts and info I sign in case of stuff like this) and couldn’t find anything in my paperwork but my family all confirmed that I had told them that after my interview. I’m currently trying to find dated messages where I state this. I just feel pretty wronged here. I have worked my ass off, taken extra hours, and been trained in many different parts of the store. I have trained others and helped countless new hires at this point. Im just frustrated. Since my six months have passed and I never received any evaluation or raise discussion Im now applying to other jobs. Has anyone experienced something like this or have any suggestions? They genuinely lied to me.
